Scenario of Elective Colorectal Oncology Surgeries During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world health scenario, causing numerous problems related to overload of services. In this approach oncological diseases becomes a challenge, considering risk progression cancer disease and death due delay in diagnosis treatment. Faced with exceptional situation, coloproctology services have been forced change their routine adapt new reality, risks benefits conduct these patients. Thus, experience service at Santa Casa de São Paulo, state Brazil, during beginning is described, evaluating possibility maintaining elective surgeries through selection by directed anamnesis. Method Retrospective cohort study prospective collection comparing colorectal surgery for before from December 2019 July 2020. Results total, 81 patients were included. During pandemic, 41 operated on 2 perioperative contaminations COVID-19. Both length stay complications not different between groups. Conclusion Since there was no increase morbidity mortality oncology screened guided anamnesis, it worth method surgical procedures even event pandemic.
